Based on imagery for self breast examination, One Hundred Sixty Degrees (2006) was made in response to internal conflicts between resistance to undergoing routine healthcare and acknowledging its necessity—conflicts due to acute gender dysphoria concerning the possession of breasts.
Only two of the three breasts created remain. The first was irreparably damaged prior to exhibition. |
I created Ballot Box to address debates surrounding cis women's reproductive rights during the 2012 presidential campaign. Because Ballot Box was censored from the show for which it was initially accepted, Substitute for Censored Artwork took its place in the exhibition. I write about these works in my book chapter "Vagina Dialogues: Un/mediated, Un/censored."
